Donor recognition, as a means of memorializing loved ones, is meaningful in a spiritual community. The Book of Joy is the designated form of donor recognition for the Music Endowment Fund. It is a perpetual memorial which will be on display in the Cathedral forever.
The Book of Joy is an elegant box containing 366 pages, fashioned in the shape of a leather bound book with gold letters on the front and on the spine. The Book of Joy takes centre place in the display case which is located on the north side of the main doors in the west end of the Cathedral. Surrounding the centre display will be seven pages, one for each day of the week, which will be changed weekly. The pages will be laid on a blue velvet background. Information outlining the concept, origin and benefits of the Music Endowment Fund are included in the display.
Andrew Charlton of Brit’s Fine Furniture built the display case. The leather bound Book of Joy was constructed by Courtland Benson, Book Conservation, Restoration & Fine Binding.
Only donors who give within the scale of giving qualify for inclusion in this project. Please contact the Campaign Office for more details.
In tandem with The Book of Joy is The Book of Donors. This book, located on the credenza at the West end of the Cathedral, contains the names of everyperson who has contributed to the campaign fund. The book is also updated on a regular basis. We would like to thank the donors and corporate sponsors for their contributions to this magnificent project.
